Garstang Town Council Awards were founded in 2018 by then Mayor, Cllr Peter Ryder. The Town Council Awards work to recognise the work of unsung heroes and groups within our community for their extraordinary work. There are now 9 categories in the Town Council Awards.
- Young Citizen of the Year Trophy, courtesy of Lady Dulcie Atkins. Awarded to a young person in the community between the age of 12-18 who makes a big difference to someone else, an unsung hero in your eyes.
- Junior Citizen of the Year Trophy, courtesy of Carrs Jewellers. Awarded to a young person in the community between the age of 4-11 who makes a big difference to someone else, an unsung hero in your eyes.
- Youth Group of the Year Shield, courtesy of Garstang Fish and Chips. Awarded to a group with an average age of up to 18 and a maximum age of 21 that provides a significant benefit to our young citizens.
- Community Team of the Year Shield, sponsored by Marsden Building Society. This is awarded for a team which makes a significant contribution through their time, actions, talents and dedication for the benefit of the community.
- Good Citizen of the Year Shield, courtesy of Scotts This award is awarded to a person in the community who makes a big difference to someone else, an unsung hero.
- Business in the Community Shield, courtesy of Wyre Cllr. Lady Dulcie Atkins and Wyre Cllr. Mrs Alice Collinson. This category is awarded to any business operating in the Garstang area * This will include Sole Traders, Limited Companies, Partnerships, and any other business having a legal structure including charitable organisations.
- New Business in the Community Shield, courtesy of Town Cllr Alec Allan. This category is awarded to any business operating in the Garstang area * any time in the calendar year prior to 31st December before Nominations Open. This will include Sole Traders, Limited Companies, Partnerships, and any other business having a legal structure including charitable organisations.
- Sports Team of the Year Shield, courtesy of Garstang Sports and Social Club. This award is awarded to the Sports Team that has been most successful in developing community participation in sport.
- Mayors Shield, courtesy of Town Cllr. Ryder. This award is awarded at the discretion of the Mayor to an individual or team for an outstanding contribution to Garstang.
