  • New Befriending Service!

We’re taking action to help reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation across the Fylde coast. In partnership with Fylde Council, Wyre Council is delivering a new befriending service, aiming to recruit volunteers who are able and willing to support and spend time with lonely, vulnerable and isolated residents.

Befriending volunteers will be able to offer companionship to those most in need in our communities.

Volunteers will assist individuals with tasks such as helping with shopping or picking up medications from the pharmacy, as well as offering an opportunity to talk in person or over the phone. Even something as simple as popping in for a brew and a chat can make a significant difference and brighten the day of someone who is socially isolated. Are you interested & would like to volunteer?

If you could spare as little as an hour out of your day to help us combat loneliness, please get in touch.

To become a befriending volunteer in the Wyre area, email befriending@wyre.gov.uk.
