Applications are open now for the latest round of the Household Support Fund

3rd of December, 2024

People struggling to pay for essentials such as food, heating and water this winter can now apply for Household Support Funding from Wyre Council.

Wyre residents can make an application now using the online form on the Wyre Council website at www.wyre.gov.uk/householdsupport from and the scheme closes on the 31 March 2025. Eligible residents are encouraged to seek support early as the scheme may close earlier if the funds are exhausted due to demand.

Wyre Council has received just over £400,000 in the latest round of the Household Support Fund. The Household Support Fund can provide short-term financial help for people struggling to pay for essentials such as food, heating and water. Proactive support has already been issued to 3344 households in early November. If you have received this support, you will not be eligible for another award via the application scheme.

Over the past 3 years, the council has supported over 25,000 economically vulnerable households administering over £2,266,000 in the form of supermarket vouchers, Post Office vouchers and cash payments.

As well as helping its most vulnerable residents, Wyre Council has also been pleased to support Citizens Advice, Warm Hubs, Affordable Warmth Scheme, Homestart, Fylde Coast Women’s Aid and eight local foodbanks - The Pantry (Faith in the Community), St Thomas’ Garstang Foodbank, West View Community Association, Help PKE, Christian Care and Share Foodbank, Meadows Food Pantry (Christ Church), Hope Community Care Hub Foodbank and Cleveleys Community Church. Many of these organisations would not be able to offer the vital services they do without this funding.

Leader of Wyre Council, Councillor Michael Vincent commented, “For the past three years we have been committed to distributing the Household Support Fund as efficiently as possible, maximising the benefits of the fund to help our most vulnerable residents and the organisations that support them.

“We know how valuable this latest round of funding will be for people struggling this winter and our officers have worked hard to ensure that anyone in Wyre needing extra support, gets the help they need as soon as possible.

“I am encouraging anyone eligible to please make an application online now and share this information with anyone else that might need to seek extra support this winter, so we can help as many people as possible through the coming months.”

Applications are being accepted now and the scheme will close on 31 March 2025 or earlier if funding is spent.
